Bret Arnold Bielema is an American football coach. He is currently the head football coach at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He was the head coach at University of Arkansas from 2013 to 2017, tallying a mark of 29–34. He played college football as a defensive lineman for the Iowa Hawkeyes.

He was the head coach at University of Arkansas from 2013 to 2017, tallying a mark of 29–34. In his first season as head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers in 2006, his team ended the regular season 11–1. He became the third coach in NCAA history to win 12 games in his rookie season. In 2012, it was announced that he was leaving Wisconsin to become the headCoach of the Arkansas Razorbacks. He left partly because he felt that his assistant coaches were not being paid enough. BieleMA is the only coach in Wisconsin history to lose consecutive Rose Bowls. He played college football as a defensive lineman for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 1989 to 1992. He went on to play for the Milwaukee Mustangs, a team in the Arena Football League.

He has been an assistant coach in the National Football League for three seasons, in 2018 and 2019 with the New England Patriots and 2020 with theNew York Giants. He also served as the assistant coach for the New York Giants in 2012 and 2013. He won the 2010 Bear Bryant Award which is given to college football’s Coach of the Year. He had a record of 3-9, including 0-8 in the Southeastern Conference, including 1-5 against the Ohio State Buckeyes. In 2011, he was named the Coach of The Year by the American Football Coaches Association. In 2013, he won the Heisman Trophy for the first time in his coaching career. In 2014, he led Wisconsin to the Rose Bowl, where they lost to Ohio State, 31-18. The win was Wisconsin’s first over a #1-ranked team since 1981 when the Badgers upset Michigan.
