Artem Chigvintsev

Artem Vladimirovich Chigvintsev was born in Izhevsk, Udmurt Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, RSFSR, Soviet Union. He moved to the United States in 2003, and began dancing with champion ballroom dancer Giselle Peacock. He joined the cast of Burn the Floor in London in 2010, winning the show in his first year. In 2014 he was promoted to professional dancer, marking his exit from Strictly Come Dancing.

He appeared in the 18th season of Dancing with the Stars as a member of the Dance Troupe in 2014. He was announced as one of the professional dancers for season 21, but he was not part of the lineup. He will not be competing on season 21 due to a last minute casting change, but will still dance with the pros in the ballroom. It was later revealed that former Bachelorette, Kaitlyn Bristowe was meant to compete alongside him, but was prevented to do so by Mike Fleiss, the show’s producer, but would go on to partner Artem on season 29.

He has performed on Broadway and more recently in the West End in 2009. He is also a guest choreographer on So You Think You Can Dance, and was a contestant on the first series of S&YYC. He also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2010 and 2013, winning series 8 with his celebrity partner Kara Tointon. In 2011, he was partnered with Holly Valance and made it to the semi-finals, before being eliminated. In 2013 he was paired with former figure skater Nancy Kerrigan and finished in 11th place. In 2014 he was promoted to professional dancer, marking his exit from StrictLY Come Dancing.
