She made her feature film debut as Winnie Foster in Tuck Everlasting, and has since appeared in Sin City, Post Grad, and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants film series.

In 2016, she reprised her role on the Netflix reunion miniseries Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. In 2017, she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. In 2018, she was again nominated for Primetime Emmys for her work on that show. In 2020, she will be nominated in the Guest Actress category again for that show, as well as for The handmaid’s tale.

She has a younger brother, Eric, who was born and raised in Argentina. Her paternal grandfather was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and was of Danish and German descent. She grew up in a Spanish-speaking household, and did not learn English until she began school; she considers herself a Latina. In 2005, she co-starred in the anthology neo-noir crime thriller Sin City where she played Becky, a prostitute. The following year, she starred in the comedy Post Grad, which was released on August 21, 2009. In April 2009, she played Tommy Porter’s girlfriend, Beth, in the romantic comedy The Good Guy, which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival. In 2006, she appeared opposite Jay Baruchel as the fiancée of Reed Fish’m Reed Fish Fish’s title character.
