Adam McKay is an American film and television writer, director and producer. He served as head writer for the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live for two seasons and is the co-founder of the Upright Citizens Brigade. He was nominated for several awards for The Big Short including the Academy Award for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay and two British Academy Film Awards.

He is the director of Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, Step Brothers, The Other Guys, and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. He was nominated for several awards for The Big Short including the Academy Award for Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay and two British Academy Film Awards. For Vice, a biographical film about former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, McKay received Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay. He also wrote the script for the Marvel Studios feature film Ant-Man, directed by Peyton Reed, and produced the films Land of the Lost, The Virgin Harder, and The Hardest Hit.

He co-founded Funny or Die and produced HBO’s Eastbound & Down through his company Gary Sanchez Productions with his partner Will Ferrell. He has appeared in several films with Ferrell, including Daddy’s Home and Step Brothers, and co-wrote the screenplay for The Other guys. He and Ferrell have co-written and produced numerous TV series and films, and have produced their comedy website Funny Or Die. McKay is a member of the Second City improv comedy group and was a performer at Chicago’s ImprovOlympic. He dropped out of college a semester-and-a-half before he was set to earn his bachelor’s degree, describing it as \”settling with an imaginary degree\”. He has been married to actress and former SNL writer Tina Fey since 2001. He currently lives in New York City with his wife and their two children. They have a son, a daughter, and a stepson.
