Suresh Raina (born 27 November 1986) is an Indian former international cricketer. He is the first Indian batsman to hit a century in all three formats of international cricket. Raina made his ODI debut in July 2005 against Sri Lanka at the age of 19. His Test debut came about five years later, in July 2010, against the same opposition. He was a part of the Indian squad that won the 2011 Cricket World Cup. He will retire from international cricket on 15 August 2020, though he will continue to play for Chennai Super Kings in theIndian Premier League.

Raina made his ODI debut in July 2005 against Sri Lanka at the age of 19. His Test debut came about five years later, in July 2010, against the same opposition. He was a part of the Indian squad that won the 2011 Cricket World Cup. In 2017, Raina did not manage to remain a regular fixture in the Indian team and was dropped from the Annual Retainership of the BCCI. He has also captained the Indian cricket team and is the second-youngest player ever to captain India. He will retire from international cricket on 15 August 2020, though he will continue to play for Chennai Super Kings in theIndian Premier League but pulled off due to personal reasons from IPL 2020. He plays for Uttar Pradesh in all forms of domestic cricket and was the captain of the Gujarat Lions in the India Premier League. He also is the former vice-captain of the Chennai Super King’s ODI team. He came to prominence amongst Indian selectors in 2002 when he was selected for the U-19 tour to England, where he made a pair of half-centuries in the Test matches. In late 2003, he toured Pakistan for theU-19 Asian ODI Championship. He scored three half- Centuries, including a 90 scored off only 38 balls, in the 2004 U-17 World Cup, wherehe was then awarded a Border-Gavaskar scholarship to train at the Australian Cricket Academy.

In early 2005, he made his first-class limited overs debut, and scored 645 runs that season at an average of 53. 75. He made his Ranji Trophy debut against Assam in February 2003, but did not play another match until the following season. In June 2010, he was the leading run scorer in the T-20 series against Zimbabwe in June 2010 and India won the 2 match series 2–0. Virat Kohli and R Ashwin made their T- 20 debuts in Raina’s captaincy. He played in the group game against West Indies, which Raina played in place of an injured Yuvraj Singh. In the quarter-final against defending champions Australia, he assisted Mahendra Singh Dhoni in omitting Yusuf Pufathan in favour of Raina. This remained so until the in-form Yusuf pufathan replaced Raina in the side. He went on to play in the last two matches of the World Cup against Australia and West Indies. In May 2013, he captained India in the final match of the tournament against the West Indies at the Oval. In April 2014, he won the ODI World Cup for India against Australia at the Ageas Bowl in New Zealand. In July 2014, RainA was named in India’s World Cup squad for the 2014 World Cup in South Africa.
