Gary Francis Caine Cherone is an American rock singer and songwriter. He is known for his work as the lead vocalist of the Boston rock group Extreme. Cherone was also the lead singer for Van Halen from 1996 to 1998. He currently lives in Boston, Massachusetts with his wife and two children.

Cherone was also the lead singer for Van Halen from 1996 to 1998. He has also released solo recordings. In 2007, he reunited with Extreme and released a new album, III Sides To Every Story, with former bandmates Paul Geary, Nuno Bettencourt, and Pat Badger. He performed at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert at Wembley Stadium in April 1992. He also performed a medley of Queen hits during the first half of the concert. In 2011, Cherone released a solo album, The Other Side of The Story, which featured an eclectic and diverse set of songs, marking a departure from the straightforward rock arena that VanHalen had played with earlier in their career.

He currently lives in Boston, Massachusetts with his wife and two children. He and his family have a son and a daughter, both of whom he has raised since the age of three, and he has two step-daughters and one step-son. He lives with his family in Boston. He was previously married to singer-songwriter/guitarist/producer/singer/songwriter Lisa Kohn.
