About New York State Route 175 in brief

Summary New York State Route 175New York State Route 175 is an east–west state highway in Onondaga County, New York, in the United States. The 15-mile route was designated in the 1930 renumbering of state highways in New York. The section of NY 175 from the town of Marcellus to the end of the NY 173 concurrency is part of the Seneca Turnpike, which was established in 1800 and dissolved in 1852. The highway was instrumental in the development of the villages of Skaneateles and Mar cellus. NY 175 ends at a junction with US 11 in Syracuse, where it runs along the western edge of Saint Agnes Cemetery. It is the only state highway to cross West Nine Mile Creek on a bridge inventoried by the New York State Department of Transportation as NY 175X.

The bridge was built in 1962 and is maintained by Onondagi County, as is the rest of NY 175 west of NY 174. It was built to replace a bridge that was destroyed by a fire in the early 1900s. The route is one of the most heavily traveled in the state, with more than 100,000 vehicles crossing it each year. It has a total length of 46 miles (74 km) and is one of the most traveled state routes in the U.S., with the longest being New Jersey’s Rt. 1 (Rt. 2). The highway is located in a rural area that is mostly residential and commercial in nature, leaving the next area behind.
