Whodini is an American hip hop group that was formed in 1982. The group was one of the first rap groups to add R&B twist to their music. They were contemporaries of other hip hop groups such as Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, Afrika Bambaataa, Run-D. M. C., The Fat Boys and Warp 9.

They were contemporaries of other hip hop groups such as Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, Afrika Bambaataa, Run-D. M. C., The Fat Boys and Warp 9. 4 albums of the group were certified Platinum by RIAA, due to their loud single \”Friends\” that hit Billboard Hot 100. The bulk of production on their releases was done by Larry Smith, a bass player who also handled much of Run- D. C.’s early work. Whodini combined the goofy fun of The Fat boys with the virtuosity of Run. D.C. to create what is the rap equivalent of horror movies. The instrumental version of \”Five Minutes of Funk\” was used as the theme music for WNYC TV show, Video Music Box, an influential early hip hop music video show.

In 1986, a third album, Back in Black, was released with nine bonus tracks. A number of songs from the album received heavy local New York airplay, such as “I’m a Ho’s Ho” and “Funky Beat” “Last Night’ was guitar-driven and featured drummer of Pendulum, Paul Kodish, on the album. From the 1982 to 1986, the group toured with the more successful bands such as LL Cool J, The Fatboys, The R&F Cool J and other prominent hip hop and funk bands. They have released six studio albums. 14 singles of theGroup hit the charts of the American magazine Billboard. Four of their albums were certified platinum-level sales by the RiaA.
