Written and illustrated by the same team that created the first book, it offers instructions for inviting a scout elf to visit for a child’s birthday party.

In April 2014, two supplemental products were released: Elf on TheShelf Birthday Countdown Game and The Elf Shelf Birthday Chair Decoration Kit. The Gnome Kit was parodied in the 2016 episode of The Simpsons: After Krust After Nightmare. A Jewish version of the toy was created in 2011 by Benjamin Goikns: Elchik: Mensch on a Bench: a stuffed toy that looks a bit like a rabbi or a Hasidic Jew or a rabbi. The Yiddish version was designed by Benjamin Elikns and features a stuffed stuffed animal that looks like a Jewish Hasid or rabbi or Hasid. It was created by Hasbro marketing executive Neal Hoffman, a former Hasbro Toys executive and Hasbro toy executive. The toy was sold for more than 22,000 USD on Kickstarter.
