The film stars Steven McQueen and Aneta Corsaut and co-stars Earl Rowe and Olin Howland. The Blob was distributed by Paramount Pictures as a double feature with I Married a Monster from Outer Space. It was released on July 25, 1958, and is now considered one of the best-known horror films of all time. It has been released on Blu-ray, DVD, and Blu-Ray Disc in the U.S. and on DVD in the UK, with a DVD version of the film being released in the United States on July 21, 2009. The Blu- ray version of The Blobe is available on DVD for the first time in a 40th anniversary special edition of $20.99. The DVD edition also includes a bonus feature, a deleted scene of the Blob eating a man’s arm, as well as a deleted deleted scene from the original version of I Married aMonster from Outer space. TheBlu-Ray version also includes an additional deleted scene, of the man being eaten by the Blobe. It is released on DVD on July 27, 2009, and it is available in the US for a limited time only for $10.99 on DVD and $15.99 for the Blu-rays and $20 for the DVD and CD versions of the two films respectively.

The movie was released in theaters on July 31, 1958. It also is available for home video on DVD, but only on the VHS version for $16.99 (the DVD version is not available on the DVD version for the same reason). It is also available on VHS for the second time on DVD as a download for $20 (the original version costs $20). The DVD version also comes with a bonus clip of the creature morphing into a superimposed superimposed human face. The original version does not include the clip of Steve Andrews and his girlfriend, Jane Martin, kissing at a lovers’ lane when they see a Meteorite crash beyond the next hill; Steve decides to look for it. The old man pokes the meteorite with a stick, it breaks open, and a small jelly-like globule inside attaches itself to his hand. Steve and Jane take him to the impact site and gather information. The man is nearly struck by Steve’s car; he is then taken to a doctor, who amputates his arm to save his life. The doctor is consumed by the creature, growing redder and larger with each victim consumed. In the meantime, the creature consumes a mechanic at a repair shop. Steve recruits Tony and some of his friends to warn people about the creature. The responding townspeople and police still refuse to believe them.
