Monolith (Space Odyssey)
In Arthur C. Clarke’s Space Odyssey, Monoliths are machines built by an unseen extraterrestrial species. In the series of novels, three Monolith’s are discovered in the Solar System by hominids and humans. The aliens left behind three monoliths to observe and enact their plan to encourage humans to pursue technology and space travel.
