Left–right political spectrum
The left and right political spectrum is a system of classifying political positions, ideologies and parties based on issues of social equality and social hierarchy. In France, where the terms originated, the left has been called ‘the party of movement’ and the right ‘theparty of order’ The terms ‘left’ and ‘right’ were first used during the French Revolution of 1789.
