Jay Kay was born in Stretford, Lancashire, on 30 December 1969. He formed Jamiroquai in 1992 with Toby Smith, Nick Van Gelder, Derrick McKenzie and Wallis Buchanan. The band has sold more than 26 million albums worldwide. His personal wealth is reported to be around £40 million.
