Steven Victor Tallarico, better known as Steven Tyler, is an American singer, songwriter, musician, actor, and former television personality. He is best known as the lead singer of the Boston-based rock band Aerosmith, in which he also plays the harmonica, piano, and percussion. Tyler is included among Rolling Stone’s 100 Greatest Singers. In 2016, Tyler released his debut solo album, We’re All Somebody from Somewhere.

Tyler continues to perform both solo and with Aeros Smith. He was ranked third on Hit Parader’s Top 100 Metal Vocalists of All Time. Tyler’s father was of Italian and German descent, while his mother was possibly of Polish and English ancestry. He has noted on a number of occasions that his maternal grandfather was Ukrainian and changed his surname from \”Czarnyszewicz\” to \”Blancha\”. His paternal grandfather, Giovanni TallarICO, was from Cotronei, Calabria, Italy. Tyler was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. He and his songwriting partner Joe Perry received the ASCAP Founders Award and were inducted to the Songwriters Hall of Hall of fame in 2013. Tyler has continued to record music and perform with AerOSmith, after more than 48 years in the band. He wrote what he would become one day: a man with big lips and big lips, basically the music I used to love more than anything.

He also has a daughter named Lynda, and a son named Steven, who is also a singer. Tyler attended high school in Yonkers, New York, but was expelled just before his graduation due to marijuana use. He later graduated from Quintano Professionals School for Young Professionals in Greenwich Village. At 17, Tyler spent time seeing a Rolling Stones concert with Mick Jagger and friends outside a hotel in New York City. Tyler wrote in his autobiography, Walk This Way, that he and friends would hang around for a while, buzzing like crazy just because we got to touch them. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, Tyler had a heavy drug and alcohol addiction and the band’s popularity waned. In 1986, Tyler completed drug rehabilitation. Tyler and Joe Perry joined Run-DMC for a re-make of the classic AerosSmith song “Walk This Way” which became a Top 5 hit. In 2009 and 2010, he fell off the stage at a concert, had a relapse with prescription drugs, and signed on to American Idol without telling his bandmates. He has embarked on several solo endeavors including guest appearances on other artists’ music productions, film and TV roles, authoring a bestselling book and solo work Feels So Good\” in 2011. In 2013, Tyler and his bandmate Joe Perry were awarded a BMI Founders Award for their songwriting contributions to the history of rock music.
