Ryan Joseph Fitzpatrick is an American football quarterback for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League. Fitzpatrick played college football at Harvard, where he was the school’s first quarterback to rush for over 1,000 yards in a career. He was selected by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round of the 2005 NFL Draft. Fitzpatrick has started for eight teams during his 16-season career, the most of any NFL quarterback. He has the highest Wonderlic Test score ever achieved among NFL quarterbacks.

As a member of the Buccaneers in 2018, Fitzpatrick became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw 400 yards or more in three straight games. He has the highest Wonderlic Test score ever achieved among NFL quarterbacks. The only player to earn a verified perfect score on the Wonderlic test was also a Harvard graduate: wide receiverpunter Pat McInally, who played his entire career with the Cincinnati Bengals. Fitzpatrick was named the Ivy League Player of the Year, and winner of the George H. H. Lowe Award, as he accumulated 1,986 yards with 13 touchdowns and six interceptions in 2004. He also led Harvard to a 10–0 record, thus winning the Ivy league Championship. Fitzpatrick made his professional debut in November 2005, after entering the second quarter against the Houston Texans to replace injured veteran journeyman Jamie Martin. He made one of only eight players who passed for more than 300 yards in their NFL debut, completing 63% of his passes and 117 QB rating for the game. In Week 6, Fitzpatrick was upgraded to third-string quarterback after Marc Bulger sustained a shoulder injury and was subsequently placed on injured reserve for the remainder of the season.

On November 27, 2005, Fitzpatrick earned Offensive Player of The Week for his performance against the Texans. He led the Rams from a 24–3 halftime deficit to a 33–27 overtime win, throwing for 310 yards and three touchdowns, completing 3 of his 3 passes of 63 yards and 117 quarterback rating of 3% or more. He is the only player in NFL History to throw a touchdown pass with eight teams. Fitzpatrick is the son of former New York Jets quarterback Mike Fitzpatrick and the brother of former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Mark Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick’s father, Mike Fitzpatrick, is a former NFL quarterback who played for the Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, and the Tampa Bay Bucs. He played for Harvard from 2001 to 2003. He graduated from Harvard with a bachelor’s degree in economics. His 641 pass attempts rank fourth in school history. For his career, Fitzpatrick connected on 384 of 641 passes for 5,234 yards, 39 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. He collected 1,487 yards with 16 scores on 365 carries and totaled 6,721 yards, an average of 224. 0 yards per game, while seeing action in 30 contests.
