A police detective visits Beth, saying his sister was the one who called Shelley, despite his sister being dead at the time of the call. He also says he traced the voicemail left on his sister’s phone and was going to find out more about the person who sent it, Marie Layton. The disc reveals that Marie had cut Laurel and Ellie’s arm with a butcher knife while performing an occult ritual. She then took Laurel to the hospital, leaving Ellie, who suffered an asthma attack, leaving her locked in the bedroom. Ellie’s cell phone was dialing her mother’s phone while her mother was performing the ritual, thus leaving Laurel alone in the room. Marie entered the room and dialed Laurel’s cell, leaving Laurel locked in her bedroom. The two try to escape with less than 30 minutes left, but are later separated.
