Oli McBurnie

Oliver Robert McBurnie is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for Sheffield United and the Scotland national team. He began his career with Bradford City before signing for Swansea City. He has also spent time on loan at Newport County, Bristol Rovers and Barnsley. He made his senior debut for Scotland in March 2018.

He began his career with Bradford City before signing for Swansea City. He has also spent time on loan at Newport County, Bristol Rovers and Barnsley. He made his senior debut for Scotland in March 2018 and is a member of the Scotland squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire, to a Scottish father and a Yorkshire-born mother. He played youth football for Leeds United before joining Bradford City’s academy. He signed a three-year professional contract with Bradford in August 2013. In July 2015 he joined Swansea City for an undisclosed fee, later revealed to be £250,000. On 31 August 2017, the last day of the English summer transfer window, a loan to Championship club Barnsly for the rest of the season was agreed.

However the transfer was not completed, due to an issue with the paperwork and he returned to Swansea. On January 2018, he moved on loan to Paul Heckingbottom’s Sheffield Wednesday. He scored six goals in his first eight games for the Championship club. Mc Burnie was named Championship Player of the Month for February and also received a call up to Scotland’s squad for his first international match against Slovenia on 28 April 2018. He also made his debut for Swansea’s Under 23 team against Liverpool on 31 October. He returned to the first team under new manager Carlos Carvalhal, where he made 12 appearances including starting against Liverpool and Newcastle. In November he made his first appearance for Swansea in the second-round of the 2016–17 EFL Cup tie against Peterborough United.
