As of November 16, 2020, he is #15 in the UFC welterweights rankings. Chima Ev was born in Chechnya, Russia, where he started wrestling when he was five years old. In 2011, he immigrated to Sweden and has never been defeated while competing in Sweden. He trains at Allstar Training Center in Stockholm, along with two-time UFC Light Heavyweight Championship challenger Alexander Gustafsson, Ilir Latifi and Reza Madadi among others.

He was expected to challenge Jarrah Al-Selawe for the BCF Welterweight Championship on April 18, 2020 at Brave CF 37. However, the event would be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the matchup was cancelled altogether. He made his promotional debut in a middleweight bout against John Phillips, on July 16, 2019 at UFC on ESPN 13. He won the fight via submission in the second round. He then faced promotional newcomer Rhys McKee, who achieved four consecutive wins within one night at UFC 2. It was reported on September 6, 2020 that he was set to face Royce Gracie at UFC 6. He instead faced Dusko Todorovicovicovic, who won the middleweight fight on July 25, 2020.
