He is a three-time UFC featherweight champion overall. As of September 22, 2020, he is #7 in the UFC Bantamweight rankings. Aldo was born on September 9, 1986, in Manaus, Brazil. As an infant, he was dropped onto a barbecue, leaving a permanent scar on the left side of his face. He fought his first professional MMA fight at the age of 17 at EcoFight 1 on August 10, 2004. After his first MMA defeat in November 2005, Aldo remained undefeated for over a decade, winning 18 straight fights until UFC 194 in December 2015. In Sherdog’s April 2017 pound-for-pound ranking, Alde was called ‘the greatest featherweight in mixed martial arts history’ He is the teammate and training partner of former UFC Bendaweight champion Renan Barão at Nova União. He was the fourth and final WEC featherweight Champion, becoming the first UFC Featherweight Champion after the UFCWEC merger. He has also been the undisputed champion twice and the interim champion once, as well as the first WEC Featherweight champion in the company’s history. He also holds the WEC Lightweight and Middleweight Featherweight Championships. He lost his first and only professional fight to fellow Brazilian Hudson Rocha, in his second fight for Shooto Brazil.

He then traveled to England, where he fought Micky Young at FX3- Battle of Britain on October 15, 2005. He defeated Young just 1: 05 into the first round by TKO. A month later, he went up a weight class to lightweight and fought Luta Liviano Avedo at Jungle Fight 5. He went on to win the fight by unanimous decision. His next fight was against Vale Tudo and Shooto veteran Aritano Silva Barbosa, who had lost four of his last five fights, at Rio MMA Challenge 1 on May 12, 2005, in Rio de Janeiro. He next fought newcomer Anderson Silvério at Meca World Vale Tuto 12. He won the fight with soccer kicks, 8: 33 into the second round. He later fought fellow Brazilian Luiz de Paula at Shooto – Brazil 7. He quickly gained mount, and rained down punches before transitioning to an arm-triangle choke, forcing de Paula to tap at 1: 54 of the firstround. He last fought Lutze Azevedo in November 2006, winning by unanimous unanimous decision at JungleFight 5. In January 2007, he defeated fellow Brazilian Lutza Liviano with a second-round TKO. In March 2008, he fought fellow countryman and newcomer Mário Bigola, whom he defeated by knockout in just 16 seconds into thefirst round. In August 2008, Alda fought fellow Brazilian Hudson R Cocha, who he defeated with soccer kick.
