A sequel, It Chapter Two, was released on September 6, 2019. It is the first film in the It film series as well as being the second adaptation following Tommy Lee Wallace’s 1990 miniseries. It set numerous box office records and grossed over USD 701 million worldwide, becoming the fifth-highest-grossing R-rated film of all time. It received positive reviews, with critics praising the performances, direction, cinematography and musical score, and many calling it one of the best Stephen King adaptations. It has received numerous awards and nominations, earning two Washington D. C. Area Film Critics Association nominations, including Best Acting Ensemble. It won three Bogey Awards, for pulling in more than two million German admissions in 11 days.

It was released to cinemas across the world on September 7, 2013, in 2D and IMAX, and in 3D on September 14, 2013. It’s the first of two planned sequels to the novel. The second, It: Part 2, is scheduled for release on October 26, 2015. It will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on October 25, 2015, in North America. The third and fourth instalments of the film are scheduled to be released in Australia on October 27, 2015 and in the UK on October 28, 15, 2016 and in Europe on October 29, 15 and 16, respectively. The fourth and final instalment of the movie is set in Derry, Maine, on October 31, 2015; the fifth and final installment of the It series is due out on October 30, 2016; the final installment is scheduled to arrive on November 1, 2016 in the U.S. and Europe. The story follows seven children in D Kerry, Maine who are terrorized by the eponymous being, only to face their own personal demons in the process. The children discover that they are all being stalked by the same entity, which they refer to as ‘Pennywise the Dancing Clown’ The children are separated into two groups, the Losers Club and the Loser’s Club.
