Home Alone spawned a successful film franchise that started with the 1992 sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, which is the only Home Alone sequel to have most of the original cast reprising their roles. It was originally meant to be distributed by Warner Bros., but was transferred to 20th Century Fox when Hughes exceeded the USD 10 million limit that had been imposed on the film’s budget by Warner. The film received two Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or comedy for Culkin. It also received two Academy Award nominations for Best Original Score, which was composed by John Williams, and Best Original Song for \”Somewhere in My Memory\”. The movie was released in the U.S. in November 1990, and in the UK in November 1991, but not in Australia or New Zealand. The fourth sequel,Home Alone 6: The Final Chapter, is due out on December 28, 2013, and is expected to be released in Australia on December 29, 2013 and in Europe on December 30, 2013; it is not scheduled for U.K. release in Canada or the UK. The last sequel is Home Alone 7: The Last Episode, which opens on December 31, 2014, and comes out in Australia the following day. The first sequel is called Home Alone 8: The New Beginning, and it is about Kevin and his quest to find his family after they accidentally leave him behind on a family vacation in Paris, France. In the confusion and rush to get to the airport, Kevin is accidentally left behind. He is overjoyed with his newfound freedom. However, he soon becomes frightened by his next door neighbor, Old Man Marley, who is rumored to be a serial killer who murdered his own family, as well as the \”Wet Bandits\”, a pair of burglars who have been breaking into other vacant houses.
