This includes the popular animated television series The Real Ghostbusters, its sequel series Extreme Ghostbusters, video games, board games, comic books, clothing, music, books, food, toys, collectables, and haunted attractions. In 2015, the Library of Congress selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry, finding it \”culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant\”. Its theme song, \”Ghostbusters\” by Ray Parker Jr., was also a number-one hit. The movie earned USD 282.

2 million during its initial theatrical run, making it the second-highest-grossing film of that year, and the highest- grossing comedy film of all time at that point. It is one of only four films to gross more than USD 100 million that year. There was concern about the budget it would require, and little faith in its potential for box office success. On an approximate USD 25–30 million budget, filming took place between October 1983 to January 1984, on location in NYC and Los Angeles, and on sets at Burbank Studios, Los Angeles. There is a fourth member of the team, Winston Zeddemore, who warns the group not to cross the energy streams of their pro, as this could cause a catastrophic explosion in the city. They capture their first ghost and deposit it in a special containment unit in the firehouse, but soon their business booms as paranormal activity increases across New York. The team is hired to remove a ghost from the Sedgewick Hotel, but they are slow until the claims they are hired to do so are made by the owner of the hotel. They are eventually forced to remove the ghost in a firehouse to stop the increase in paranormal activity in the area. In the end, the team is forced to leave the city and move to a new location in Queens, New York, where they start a new paranormal investigation business. The final member of their team is Winston Zedemore who warns them that the supernatural activity is becoming more and more frequent.
