About Falcon’s Fury in brief

Summary Falcon's FuryFalcon’s Fury is a free-standing Sky Jump drop tower attraction at Busch Gardens Tampa amusement park in Tampa, Florida, United States. The ride reaches a maximum height of 335 feet and has a top speed of 60 miles per hour. The name was chosen to invoke a falcon’s ability to dive steeply at high speed to capture prey. The project was originally planned to begin in 2012 with the ride opening in 2013, but it was delayed by one year. Construction began in 2013 with a scheduled opening date of May 1, 2014; however, the opening was delayed due to mechanical and technical issues. Following a preview opening to park employees in early August and a soft opening on August 16, 2014, Falcon’s Fury officially opened to the public on September 2, 2014. Public response to the ride has been positive, with reviewers praising the height of the tower and the drop experience. It was announced on May 31, 2013, that Sandstorm would close on June 2 to make room for a new attraction. On August 10, the ride opened for the park’s employees, which pull the gondola up the tower. During the week of August 10-11, the park opened the ride for the public, which pulled the cables to the tower up.

A week later the park announced that the ride’s opening would be delayed, and several media events were cancelled due to manufacturing and technical problems. The park announced on April 3, 2014 that it would open on May 1. At the end of February, Busch Tampa’s Fury would open its three-month sweepstakes contest for a first-to-Ride Party. A second, similar contest began on April 11, with fifty winners from each week being among the first riders on the ride. The first, second, and third winners of the contest were revealed on April 14, 2014 and April 15, respectively. The contest ended on April 17, 2014 and the park began a second, second-to Ride Party Party on April 19, 2014  to celebrate the opening of the ride, which was scheduled to take place the next day. The second, third, and fourth winners from the first, third and fourth weeks of April were also announced on the same day, and the contest was held the next week. The fifth winner of the first contest was on April 20, and it was revealed that the park would open the ride the following day. On April 25, 2014 the ride was opened to all park guests, and on April 28, 2014 it opened to employees.
