Summary EnthiranEnthiran is a 2010 Indian Tamil-language science fiction action film written and directed by S. Shankar. The film stars Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan; Danny Denzongpa, Santhanam and Karunas play supporting roles. After being stalled in the development phase for nearly a decade, the film’s principal photography began in 2008 and lasted two years. It was released worldwide on 1 October 2010, along with its dubbed versions: Robot in Hindi and Robo in Telugu. It won two National Film Awards, three Filmfare Awards, seven Vijay Awards and two Screen Awards. It is among the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. The sequel, 2.0, was released in 2018 and is the first instalment in the Enthoran franchise. It follows the struggle of a scientist to control his humanoid robot named Chitti. The project backfires when Chitt i falls in love with Vaseegaran’s girlfriend, and is manipulated by a rival scientist into becoming homicidal. It marked the debut of Legacy Effects studio in Indian cinema. The soundtrack album and background score were composed by A. R. Rahman while the dialogues, cinematography, editing and art direction were handled by Madhan Karky, R. Rathnavelu, Anthony and Sabu Cyril respectively. The movie was India’s most expensive film up to that point.

It received generally positive reviews upon release. It has since become one of the most successful Indian films ever, with a box office haul of more than $1.2 billion. It also won two Filmfare awards and seven Screen Awards, including Best Actor for Rajinikathi. The second film, 2 0, was followed up by its standalone sequel, which released in November 2013. The third and fourth instalments in the franchise are expected to be released in 2015 and 2016. The fourth and fifth installements will be released later this year and 2016, respectively, in the United States and Australia. The fifth and sixth installets will be in the UK and Australia, and the final installment will be the UK in 2018. The films are scheduled to release in Australia and the US in 2019 and 2020. The final installment, 2 1/2, is scheduled for release in October 2018, and in Australia in September 2019. It will be followed by the UK version in October 2022. The last installment, 2 3/4, is due out in October 2023 and the UK release date is October 25, 2023. The US version, 2 2/5, is expected to arrive in October 2024. The UK version,  2 1/6, is released in September 2023, and  the US version in October 2028. The Indian version of 2 2/7 will be released in October 27, 2028, and October 28, 2029.
