Christopher Robin Milne

Christopher Robin Milne was the only child of author A. A. Milne. As a child, he was the basis of the character Christopher Robin in his father’s Winnie-the-Pooh stories and in two books of poems. His toys, Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, Owl and Rabbit, came to life through Milne and his mother, who could write stories from his presents from his parents.

Summary Christopher Robin MilneChristopher Robin Milne was an English author and bookseller. He was the only child of author A. A. Milne. As a child, he was the basis of the character Christopher Robin in his father’s Winnie-the-Pooh stories and in two books of poems. His toys, Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, Owl and Rabbit, came to life through Milne and his mother, who could write stories from his presents from his parents. He also had a nanny, Olive Brockwell, until May 1930, when he entered boarding school. As he grew up, Milne’s relationship with his father grew almost too much for him, and he adored him almost as much as his nanny did. He later stated: ‘For nearly ten years I had clung to Nanny, adoring him as I had adoring my parents’ Milne died at the age of 92, and is survived by his wife, Daphne, and their three children, all of whom are still alive today.

He is buried at St Paul’s Cathedral, London, in front of his mother’s grave, where he is buried alongside Pooh and Piglet. His poems include: ‘Buttercup Days’ and ‘The Only Name I feel to be really mine’    ‘I am Christopher Robin, and I will always be Christopher Robin’, and ‘I will never forget you, Nanny’ ‘I love you so much. I love you all so much, Christopher Robin,’ ‘I’ll always remember you as I did my first day of school, when I was six years old, and my last day of nursery school, and all the rest of my life’ ”I will remember you all as I do my last days of school,’ he said.
