Caroline Louise Flack was an English television and radio presenter. She won the twelfth series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2014. The following year she began presenting The X Factor and Love Island. She left Love Island in December 2019 after being arrested for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend, the tennis player Lewis Burton. A coroner’s inquest determined that Flack had taken her own life.

She began her career as an actress, starring in Bo’ Selecta! and presented various ITV2 shows including I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! NOW! and The Xtra Factor. Flack won the twelfth series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2014; the following year she began presenting The X Factor and Love Island. She left Love Island in December 2019 after being arrested for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend, the tennis player Lewis Burton. In August 2020, a coroner’s inquest determined that Flack had taken her own life. She was the youngest of the four children of Coca-Cola sales representative Ian Flack and his wife, Christine. She had a twin sister, Jody, who was originally supposed to be called Caroline, but her mother decided the name did not suit her. She attended Great Hockham Primary School and Wayland Community High School in Watton, Norfolk. She developed an interest in dancing and performed in village pantomimes while at school.

While at school she was given medical treatment for being \”very underweight\”. She studied dancing and musical theatre at the Bodywork Company in Cambridge. In 2009 Flack replaced Kirsty Gallacher as co-host of Gladiators with Ian Wright for the second series on Sky1. In 2011 Flack became a team captain on the ITV2 game show Win It to Win It. In December 2014 she reunited with Murs to host British Day on New Year’s Eve. She died on 15 February 2020 at her home in North East London, aged 48. She is survived by her twin sister Jody and her mother Christine, who is also a former TV presenter. The inquest into her death will take place in August 2020 and will be held at the Royal Courts of Justice in London.
