After a hiatus during which Fry was treated for lymphoma, he and Mark White reconvened as a duo and released the album The Blue Blue Blue. The album also featured the singles \”Vanity Kills and Blue Ocean Blue\”. Inspiration for the album’s cartoons of the band members was taken from a photo shoot by David Levine whose work featured on many of the sleeves for this album.
