Corey Jae Crowder is an American professional basketball player for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association. He is the son of former NBA player Corey Crowder. He played high school football for Villa Rica High School in Villa Rica, Georgia, before going on to play basketball at Howard College and Marquette University. He was named Big East Player of the Year in his senior season.

Crowder was not heavily recruited out of high school, although he had some offers in football. He committed to South Georgia Technical College and later Howard College, where he led the team to an NJCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship in his sophomore season. Later, he transferred to Marquette, and was named Big East Player of the Year in his senior season. In 2012, he was drafted 34th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers and traded to the Dallas Mavericks on draft night. He was traded to Boston Celtics in 2014, before being traded back to his draft team, the Cavaliers, in August 2017. He has also played for the Memphis Grizzlies and the Utah Jazz, and is a member of the NBA D-League’s Atlanta Hawks. He currently plays point guard for the Suns and the Suns’ G-League affiliate, the D- League’s Atlanta Thoroughbreds. He also plays for the Charlotte Hornets and the New York Knicks, as well as the Portland Trailblazers and the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Summer League. His father is a former NBA basketball player, with 2 years experience in Europe playing in Europe. His mother is Helen Thompson and his father played basketball for the University of Georgia from 1987 to 1991. He attended South Georgia Tech and Howard College. He graduated from South Georgia technical College in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He then went on to graduate from Marquette with a Master of Business Administration degree in 2011. He now plays for Phoenix Suns and Memphis Grizzlies, and has played in the G- League for the San Francisco Spurs and the Sacramento Kings. He previously played for Marquette’s D-league affiliate, San Francisco Bay Area Pilots, before joining the Suns in 2012 as a non-guaranteed two-year contract. In 2011, Crowder recorded a career-high 29 points and 8 rebounds in a game against the West Virginia Mountaineers. For the 2011–2012 season, he averaged 17.5 points and eight. 4 rebounds per game. Some basketball statisticians believe he was statistically the best all-around player during the 2010–11 season. He averaged 18.9 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2. 4 steals per game as a sophomore while shooting 46.0 percent from the field and 76.0% from the free throw line.
