About Roblox in brief

Summary RobloxRoblox is an online game platform and game creation system that allows users to program games and play games created by other users. It is free-to-play, with in-game purchases available through a virtual currency called Robux. As of August 2020, Roblox has over 164 million monthly active users, with it being played by over half of all children aged under 16 in the United States. The platform was created by David Baszucki and Erik Cassel in 2004 and released in 2006. It was originally known as DynaBlocks, and changed its name to Robl Rox in 2005. In March 2007, it became compliant with COPPA with the addition of safe chat, a change that restricted the ability of users under the age of thirteen to select predefined messages from a menu. In 2010, it was announced that it would no longer be available for pre-order in the U.S. as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2012, the company announced that they would not be offering pre-orders in the UK. In 2013, it announced that the company would be discontinuing its beta version of the platform in order to focus on its international expansion plans. In 2014, it released its first version of its mobile app, which is available in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. In 2015, it launched its iOS and Android versions, which are available in both the US and Canada. In 2016, it introduced its web version, which can be downloaded for free. In 2017, it added the ability for users to create their own games using its proprietary engine, RobLox Studio.

In 2018, it also launched its Android version, making it the most popular mobile game platform in the world. In 2019, it will launch its iOS version, with the ability to create games using the programming language Lua. In the past, it has also hosted events such as BloxCon, which was a convention for ordinary players on the platform. It also hosts an annual event called the “Bloxy Awards”, an awards ceremony which also functions as a fundraiser. In 2020, it hosted its first virtual concert, which has been compared to that of American rapper Travis Scott’s virtual concert in Fortiteite Holiday to an audience of Lil Nas. The 2020 edition of the Bloxy Awards drew 600,000 viewers. The majority of games produced using Robl Ox Studio are developed by children, and a total of 20 million games a year are produced using it. The highest-earning creators on the site make over USD 100,000 a year off item sales. Robux is the virtual currency that allows players to buy various items. It can be exchanged for real currency, from a recurring stipend given to members with premium membership, and from other players by producing and selling virtual content in the site. There are a sizeable amount of scams relating to Robux, largely revolving around automated messages promoting scam websites, scam games designed to appear to give out free Robux codes.
