Dave Chisnall

Dave Chisnall is an English professional darts player from St Helens. He began his career in the British Darts Organisation and was the runner-up in their World Championship in 2010. He switched to the Professional Darts Corporation a year later and has won 15 Pro Tour events. He is probably best known for defeating Phil Taylor in the 2012 World Championship.

He is probably best known for defeating Phil Taylor in the 2012 World Championship, for reaching the final of the 2013 World Grand Prix where he was beaten 6–0 by Taylor. In the 2014 Grand Slam of Darts, he lost a much closer match 16–13, again to Phil Taylor. He hit his only televised nine-dart finish in the 2015 Grand Slam against Peter Wright. His nickname actually originates from his work as a carpenter rather than his surname. He has won back-to-back titles claiming the Welsh Masters with a 5–1 victory over Tony O’Shea, and the British Open, knocking out BDO World Champion Ted Hankey in the earlier rounds before beating Martin Atkins 2–0 in the final. He won a PDC tour card in January 2011 by defeating Terry Temple in his first PDC event in Halle, Germany. He reached his first final in the UK Open Qualifier of the year but was edged out by Michael van der Voort 6–5 in the last 64. His manager is Roger Schena, who often tours with him during tournaments. He played for a local football team until he was 17 when he broke his foot and switched to darts.

He currently plays in the PDC Pro Tour and has a career-high ranking of 14th. He was the BDO Gold Cup winner in 2007 and won the Isle of Man Open in 2008. He also reached the final of the 2010 BDO International Grand Prix Series and the World Championship final in 2010 but was beaten 7–5 by number three seed, and Masters champion, Martin Adams. In 2011 he won the Q School Q School Championship and the 2011 BDO Q School World Championship. He lost 41 in sets to Gary Robson in the second round of the 2011 World Darts Championship. In 2013 he reached the quarter-finals of the Pro Tour Derby Pro Tour event but was defeated 6–3 by Jamie Caven on both days of the weekend. In 2014 he won a tournament in the Netherlands and reached the last 16 of the World Tour Pro Tour. In 2015, he won his first event on the European Tour, the PTC Pro Tour, by beating Simon Whitlock 6–2 in the semi-finals on the first day of the last 32 of the event. In 2016, he was the first player to reach the final in all three European Tour events in the same year, beating Vincent van derVoort 6–5 on the second day. His career-best ranking is 14th, with a record of 15 wins from 15 events. His most recent win came in the 2014 PDC World Grand Grand Prix, where he beat Gary Robson 6–4 in the semis.
