Jesse Ventura was the 38th governor of Minnesota from 1999 to 2003. He was the first and only candidate of the Reform Party to win a major government office. After leaving the military, he embarked on a professional wrestling career from 1975 to 1986, taking the ring name \”Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura\”. He had a long tenure in the World Wrestling Federation as a performer and color commentator, and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2004. In late April 2020, Ventura endorsed the Green Party in the 2020 presidential election and showed interest in running for its nomination. On May 7, he announced he would not run for health reasons. He attended Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and graduated in December 1970. Ventura attended North Hennepin Community College in Minneapolis during the mid-1970s. At the same time, he was a bodyguard for The Rolling Stones for a time.
As a wrestler, Ventura performed as a heel and often used the motto, ‘Win if you can, lose if you must, but always always win if you lose’ He was part of a biker gang called the Hells Angels, which he left in the fall of 1974. He later joined the Mongols motorcycle club in San Diego, California, and rode his Harley-Davidson wearing his Mongol colors. Ventura is the son of George William Janos and his wife, Bernice Martha. Both his parents were World War II veterans. He graduated in BUDS class 58 in December1970 and waspart of UnderwaterDemolition Team 12. He served in the United. States Navy from December 1, 1969, to September 10, 1975, during the Vietnamese War, but did not see combat. He also served as part of The Mongols biker club in the South Bay, San Diego. He left the club in 1974 to return to the Twin Cities. He became a full-patch member of his chapter, but never had any problems with the authorities. In the fall. of 1974, Ventura began to spend time with the. Mongols chapter. He would ride onto Naval Base Coronado on his motorcycle wearing his Mongols colors. He would later become part of the biker. chapter of the Mongol chapter of The Rolling Rolling Stones. Ventura also attended North. Hennen Community College. in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. He began a career in professional wrestling and adopted the name Jesse Ventura before picking the name Ventura.
