Matthew Rhys Evans (born 8 November 1974) is a Welsh actor. He is known for playing Kevin Walker in Brothers & Sisters and Philip Jennings in The Americans. In 2020, he will star in the lead role on the HBO period series Perry Mason.

He has appeared in a number of films, including The Edge of Love, The Post and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. In 2012, Rhys reprised Sir Alec Guinness’ 1959 double role of John Barratt Jacques DeGué in a new adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s The Scapegoat.

He starred opposite Keri Russell in the FX series The Americans, a 1980s spy drama about Russian KGB sleeper agents. The sixth season of The Americans debuted in January 2013 and was the final season of the show’s first run in the U.S. The Americans is currently in its sixth season, with the final episode airing in April 2018. The series is based on the novel by Charles Dickens, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, left unfinished at his death in 1870.
