Clare Crawley, 39, is the oldest Bachelorette in the show’s history, taking over from Rachel Lindsay who was 32 on her season. Tayshia Adams, 30, was a runner-up on the 23rd season of The Bachelor featuring Colton Underwood. This was the first American season to have two leads. For the first time since season eight, this season would not be filming at the Bachelor mansion, but at La Quinta Resort & Club in California. During filming in August 2020, host Chris Harrison had to go into a two-week quarantine after taking time to help his son move into his dorm at Texas Christian University.

One of the intended 32 contestants, Matt James was instead recast as the lead for season 25 of Theachelor – becoming the first African-American to lead The Bachelor. The season begins with Clare receiving the news that she would be preparing for the role. After weeks of testing, Clare’s journey begins with a trip to Palm Springs where she meets thirty-one men. During Week 2, Clare feels as though she’s just met her husband and plays a group game of dodgeball with the men.
