The townspeople of Vasaria raise a mob to chase Talbot down. He falls through the burned-out flooring and into an icy chamber; using ice and stone to pull the now-revived creature free. He is found by the police in Cardiff later that night, with a vicious head wound, and taken to a hospital where he is treated by Dr. Mennering. The next morning, the doctor realizes his patient had been roaming about, and tries to reason with him, though unable to accept Talbot’s explanation of his curse. The doctor and detective travel to the village of Llanwelly to investigate Talbot and his story, but while they are away, Talbot escapes from the hospital by biting through the restraints with his teeth. An upset Talbot transforms into theWolf Man and kills a young woman, causing the villagers in Vasaria to raise amob to chase him down. The police find Talbot, who becomes violently irate, then is overcome by orderlies and bound to his bed with leather straps. Talbot slowly comes to understand his situation, but during the full moon, he transforms into a police constable. The thieves remove the wolfsbane buried with Talbot, awakening him from death by the fullmoon shining on his uncovered body. The thief flees with a fur-covered hand, as the other thief fleees. The two men break into the Talbot family crypt on the night of a full moon to open the grave of Talbot.
