The pilot introduces Mick St. John, a private investigator who has been a vampire for over 50 years. It also introduces Beth Turner, Mick’s love interest, and Coraline Duvall, his ex-wife and sire. All of the original actors were recast for the lead role of Mick St John in June 2007, save for Radek Lucio, who was forced to leave the show due to health reasons. The series was picked up by CBS on May 14, 2007, prior to upfronts prior to the upfronts on May 14, 2007,. David Greenwalt, co-creator of Miracles and co-runner of Angel, joined the staff in May 2007 asrunner and executive producer alongside Silver and Koslow. Joel Silver and Gerard Bocaccio were hired to be executive producers on the project under the former’s production banner Silver Pictures.

Alex O’Loughlin and Shannon Lucio were cast in the cast, and Rod Hol Comb was hired as director in the presentation, and renamed director, in the same month. The show was canceled after one season.
